When a threaded component must be seated with external wrench access, 3/8-16 x 4 1/2 provides the traditional square head set screw format.
Typical applications include construction machinery where large wrench flats are easier to clean and grip. Use the size to match the thread and length, then call out Half Dog, Full Dog, Cone, Oval, or Flat as the required point. Flat points bear against a machined flat without intentional penetration into the mating surface.
