5/16-18 x 7/16 Cone Point Alloy Steel Socket Set Screw with Nylon Insert is used when the set screw must bear into a drilled dimple instead of relying only on surface pressure. In a properly prepared seat, the conical point can resist rotation and axial slip through geometry rather than clamp friction alone. Use this alloy steel body with the nylon locking pellet where the drawing calls for a mechanical set screw, not a corrosion-focused stainless part.

Conveyor drive components may use this family in collars, hubs, and adjustments where compact thread locking is useful.

Cold Headers has worked with specialty socket fasteners since 1962 and supports exact thread-and-length identification for repair and production work. Review thread size, length, hex key size, point style, and mating-surface marking tolerance before replacing it with another set screw.
