The slotted construction is the reason this same fastener is commonly indexed as a spring pin or roll pin. The slot accommodates the difference between the 0.131-0.135 in. free OD and the smaller 0.125-0.129 in. hole.

This size is often reviewed for jigs, fixtures, and shop tooling where precision location is not the driver when a self-retaining driven pin is specified. For worn precision holes, 0.001 Oversize Dowel Pins may be the better repair path than using a spring pin.
