5/8 x 3/16 Heat Treated Steel Standard Dowel Pin is used when mating parts need repeatable location instead of relying on bolts for alignment. Standard Series dowels are intentionally oversize, with the basic diameter 0.0002 in. over nominal so the pin presses into a nominal reamed hole.
Common uses include gauge fixtures, inspection tooling, and check fixtures, where the pin establishes position and nearby screws provide clamp force. For worn or re-reamed holes, 0.001 Oversize Dowel Pins are the repair companion to standard pins used for initial installation.
