5/16-24 x 2 1/4 1960 Series 18-8 Stainless Steel Socket Head Cap Screw with Nylon Insert is built for drawings that call for both stainless material and prevailing-torque thread locking. The insert is positioned in the threaded body so the screw can develop prevailing torque during engagement.
In outdoor control enclosures, panel hardware, or instrument mounting brackets, the internal hex drive keeps installation compact while the insert adds thread-friction locking action. Slight magnetism from cold working can be normal for 18-8 stainless, so selection should reflect the actual assembly environment and mating hardware.
For torque-once joints where a locking pellet is not required, plain 18-8 Socket Head Cap Screws may be the simpler routing. Cold Headers supports industrial maintenance and OEM sourcing teams when difficult-to-find stainless socket products are specified.
