For adjustment locations that are loosened and reset, 8-32 x 5/16 uses a brass tip so the replaceable face takes the contact instead of the mating surface.
Typical uses include polished shaft collars, small hubs, and replacement collars on finished round stock. The soft tip concentrates contact at the end of the screw while avoiding the harsher bite of an untreated alloy point. Brass gives a firmer metallic contact face when that contact style is preferred over nylon.
The Chicago tip-installation service lets Cold Headers support both catalog tipped screws and related cap screw tipping work. For humid or washdown service, compare the Nylon and Brass Tip 18-8 Stainless Socket Set Screws family; this page remains the alloy-body route.
