6-32 x 3/8 is an alloy steel socket set screw fitted with a brass tip for machinery and tooling locations where surface marking must be controlled.
Typical uses include machine-tool stops on finished ways, fixture pads, and locating features used during setup. That makes it useful when the set screw must bear on a finished or plated part and later be adjusted again. Brass gives a firmer metallic contact face when that contact style is preferred over nylon.
