1/4 x 1/4 Heat Treated Steel Standard Dowel Pin separates alignment from clamping so the bolted joint does not have to carry both jobs. Standard Series dowels are intentionally oversize, with the basic diameter 0.0002 in. over nominal so the pin presses into a nominal reamed hole.

In machine rebuilding, replacement plates, and aligned subassemblies, the hardened ground pin helps repeat location through service, teardown, and rebuild cycles. Pull Dowel Pins add a tapped end for removal from blind holes when the die or fixture cannot be flipped.
