1/4-28 x 3/16 is an alloy steel socket set screw fitted with a nylon tip for machinery and tooling locations where surface marking must be controlled.

Typical uses include anodized frames, plated components, and other assemblies where a softer contact face is useful. The soft tip concentrates contact at the end of the screw while avoiding the harsher bite of an untreated alloy point. Nylon is the softer contact choice for delicate finishes and repeated adjustment.
