Oval point geometry favors adjustable contact and re-seating rather than maximum bite into the mating part. Specify the heat-treated alloy steel body with nylon pellet when the print calls for mechanical set screw hardware, not a stainless substitute.

Grooved-shaft assemblies use the oval point to ride the groove while helping retain axial position.

Pelletized oval point screws keep the thread-locking feature separate from the adjustable contact geometry.
