A shallow prepared groove around the shaft lets the point ride axially while still allowing repositioning. Specify the heat-treated alloy steel body with nylon pellet when the print calls for mechanical set screw hardware, not a stainless substitute.

Linkage and lever assemblies may use this point style where the screw meets the mating part at an odd angle.
