The internal hex drive keeps the screw headless and accessible in collars, hubs, handles, and compact control parts. Specify the heat-treated alloy steel body with nylon pellet when the print calls for mechanical set screw hardware, not a stainless substitute.

Packaging equipment and indexing stations may specify the insert when repeated motion would otherwise relax the setting.
