5-40 x 1/4 Cone Point Alloy Steel Socket Set Screw with Nylon Insert combines heat-treated alloy steel construction, internal hex drive access, and a nylon insert in one cone-point set screw. The cone point is selected for mechanical interlock because the tapered tip seats into a spot or dimple instead of only pressing on the surface. Use this alloy steel body with the nylon locking pellet where the drawing calls for a mechanical set screw, not a corrosion-focused stainless part.
Automation equipment may use this screw in compact hubs, guide collars, and actuator-linked parts with limited outside clearance.
For non-catalog lengths, Cold Headers can review whether a nylon-insert cone point configuration can be quoted. For uncommon set screw lengths, Cold Headers can quote the requested configuration without substituting a different point geometry. Review thread size, length, hex key size, point style, and mating-surface marking tolerance before replacing it with another set screw.
