Jigs in humid plants use the ground diameter to keep parts registered while screws supply clamping force after the dowel sets position. Oversize Dowel Pins may be appropriate for repair fits in re-reamed holes where a standard diameter no longer restores location. Use the nominal diameter, tolerance band, and length together; the dowel sets location while separate fasteners provide clamping force.
Cold Headers can quote non-catalog diameters and lengths when the drawing calls for a stainless dowel outside the standard listed range.
