Use the 5/16 x 1 0.001 Oversize Dowel Pin when a worn dowel hole needs a clean replacement fit rather than a move to the next fractional size. Compared with replacing the assembly detail, a properly prepared hole and oversize pin can bring the original locating point back into service.

Jig refurbishment can call for this repair series when a standard pin no longer gives the required locating feel. Review the nominal diameter, actual oversize diameter range, length tolerance, end style, material, and ASME series before substituting a standard pin.
