Use the 1/4 x 2 0.001 Oversize Dowel Pin when a worn dowel hole needs a clean replacement fit rather than a move to the next fractional size. Compared with replacing the assembly detail, a properly prepared hole and oversize pin can bring the original locating point back into service.

Refit work after a seized pin was extracted can use this family when the old standard-size fit has been damaged. Review the nominal diameter, actual oversize diameter range, length tolerance, end style, material, and ASME series before substituting a standard pin.
