For adjustment locations that are loosened and reset, 3/8-16 x 5/8 uses a brass tip so the replaceable face takes the contact instead of the mating surface.
Typical uses include polished shaft collars, small hubs, and replacement collars on finished round stock. These parts are often selected where repeat adjustment matters and the mating surface is more valuable than the replaceable tip. Brass gives a firmer metallic contact face when that contact style is preferred over nylon.
Cold Headers applies nylon and brass tips in-house, which keeps the contact-face detail tied closely to the socket fastener itself. The 3A thread fit keeps the screw in the precision set-screw class while the tip changes the way the end contacts the part.
