1/4-28 x 7/8 Oval Point Alloy Steel Socket Set Screw with Nylon Insert combines an oval bearing tip, internal hex drive, and nylon locking pellet for repeated machine settings. This point style is useful when the part may be loosened and reset without the deep mark of a biting point. Specify the heat-treated alloy steel body with nylon pellet when the print calls for mechanical set screw hardware, not a stainless substitute.

Grooved-shaft assemblies use the oval point to ride the groove while helping retain axial position.

The nylon pellet is added to create thread drag while leaving the rounded point responsible for mating-surface contact.
